Arts Impact to Participate in Arts in Education Study
Arts Impact Selected for Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program Study
Arts Impact has been selected to participate in a very important study designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the ways that the Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program (AEMDD) grantees design, implement, and replicate arts education programs. PSESD’s involvement in this study consists of participating in up to two site visits per year for the duration of the AEMDD grant. Only three AEMDD projects nationwide were selected for these case study site visits. Branch Associates Inc. is conducting this study, under contract with the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII.)
Arts Impact is currently in year 2 of a 4-year AEMDD project researching the impact of principal leadership, in depth professional development and arts-infused teaching strategies on 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student achievement in the arts, math and writing. The project is being conducted in Centennial and Spanaway Elementary Schools in Bethel School District and Birney, Fawcett, Larchmont and Wainwright Elementary Schools in Tacoma School District.
Participation in this study represents an excellent opportunity to document the successes and challenges of Arts Impact. More information will be available at this site as it arises.
