Concept-Based Student Progress Reports

Each student in the Arts Infused Summer School receives a Concept-Based Student Progress Report.   Progress reports show the level of autonomy achieved by each student.   Teachers used a rubric to assess how independently students could demonstrate key concepts and skills in the arts0infused lessons.   For each concept or skill, teachers rated the level at which the student demonstrated that concept/skill through an academic discipline, such as literacy or mathematics as well as the level at which the student demonstrated that concept or skill through the arts: dance, theater and visual arts.   The goal is for students to demonstrate each concept or skill through both pathways independently thereby demonstrating a level of mastery.

The Concept-Based Student Progress Reports are sent to families and are on file at the Tacoma School District in their student files.   In addition, each student's new fall teachers receives a copy of the Progress Report to provide a more complete picture of that student's capabilities in demonstrating knowledge in new ways.
